Description
In the Summer of 2009, we took advantage of the wonderful opportunity to acquire our gorgeous black-tri male "Maverick" aka "Gator" from High Hope Aussies in Oklahoma. Maverick's ASCA registered name is Sunray's Black Gold. He stands 21" tall. Registered with ASCA, AKC and ASDR. Maverick is an ASCA registered son of the gorgeous and talented red merle male, WTCH Rising Sun Diggin Diamonds. "Maverick" has a pedigree that is stacked with 14 Working Trial Champions within 5 generations from both the sire and dam's side of the pedigree.
Since last Summer, we worked on Maverick's obedience training and even started him on cattle. Since Maverick was a 3 year old and a male, we spent extra time working with him so he would feel welcomed and to encourage faster bonding. One of our top goals for all our our aussies is to get along with all people and each other. Working together in obedience training exercises on-leash and off-leash with or without other dogs or people around as well help makes all our goals attainable and the journey together a pleasure. Our extra efforts with Maverick have paid off... he thoroughly enjoys his ranch lifestyle and his place within our aussie group. Everyone who meets him, loves his personality. Now in 2010, we plan to start taking Maverick with Jazz Spur when we are horseback. Maverick showed us last year when we started him on cattle that he has a natural gift to heel low on the hocks and equally loves to head as well.
His first Lazy 3S pups were born in January 2010 to Candy. From the first week that they were able to walk... these pups were extremely alert, smart and would seek out a person for direction which should make them easy to train. They show definite signs of their natural working instinct when they play and settle down nicely. We are extremely excited about Maverick passing on his phenomenal genetics to his offspring. Just like Maverick, his pups should make great working aussies if asked and enjoy their ultimate job being a family's best friend!!
